The Palazzo Strozzi in Florence hosts the exhibition De Chirico, Max Ernst, Magritte, Balthus. A look at the invisible in Florence.

The gravitational center of the exhibition consists of a core of masterpieces by Giorgio de Chirico's metaphysical period (1909-1919).
Pictorial translation of the sensitivity and the particular conception of life gained by the artist through the reading of Nietzsche, the metaphysical poetry is recognized as reflecting the mood of an entire century. Alienation and loneliness. Sense of abandonment, isolation, anxiety and despair: De Chirico avant lettre port to the depiction of the "great silence" created by the first war.
Famous artists and poets that are identified immediately alienating and enigmatic worldview and in the representation of things extraordinarily lucid and penetrating. De Chirico's language becomes indispensable starting point for finding diverse artists, from Surrealism to the Met.
